Senior Project Manager (Contract)

Location: Edinburgh, Scotland Country: UK Rate: £450 per day
 
Venesky-Brown's client, a public sector organisation in Edinburgh, is currently looking to recruit a Project Manager for an initial 6 month contract with potential to extend on a rate of c.£450/day (Inside IR35). This role will be hybrid working with a minimum of 2 days in-office working per week.

Responsibilities:

- Manage the project plan, risks and multidisciplinary project teams for the implementation project which includes activities to complete specifications, configuration and testing.
- Understand and manage interdependencies with other projects in the programme of change ensuring the impact of issues or changes are appropriately managed.
- Ensure organisation-wide stakeholders feel consulted through engagement such as input to co-design workshops and communications to steering groups, the Board or other organisational governance and stakeholders.
- Supporting the production of an early adopter and at scale delivery rollout and on-boarding plan that encourages and supports business change while course teams also face challenges of moving to new technology.

Essential Skills:

- Significant experience as a project manager, delivering successful solutions in challenging business environments.
- Developing and managing project and programme plans, benefits, risks, issues and other related information.
- Experience of engaging and obtaining results from Matrix project teams, stakeholders and senior colleagues to ensure projects deliver to agreed scope/quality, budgets and timelines.
- Experience of leading large scale digital transformation programmes and projects delivering both IT and business changes.
- Effective communication skills both oral and written, with the ability to collate and present information to others including formal boards/steering groups and senior colleagues
- Experience of using Project Management tools.
- Proactive and able to demonstrate initiative and sound judgement.
- Ability to balance diplomacy and tact with assertiveness.
- Being organised, with positive enthusiastic attitude.
- Good interpersonal skills and an ability to work with and influence a wide range of staff in a rapidly changing environment are essential.
- Good understanding of project and programme management principles, project delivery and project management tools.
- Strong stakeholder management skills.
- Ability to manage multiple projects at the same time.

Desirable Skills:

- Strong focus on Continuous Improvement.
- Awareness and understanding of current information and/or learning technology developments.
- Strong risk management knowledge and mind set. A track record demonstrating the consistent ability to focus on what can go wrong and taking appropriate and timely mitigating action.
